Gotta love the white t-shirt! I like pairing it with something a little dressier for an unexpected look. The dress is from the limited a long time ago and the scarf is from Urban Outfitters. Also I love these scalloped flats! They are from Lulus and they come in a few different colors as well.:)

Accidental Industry Fashion Show

This weekend I went to the Accidental Industry Fashion Show here in Des Moines. It was pretty cool other than it was a million degrees inside the building. It was located in the Flemming building downtown which will be a cool place to live or have your own business. Anyway the fashion show featured up and coming designers from around Des Moines and my good friend Sarah Johnson had her line in it too! She actually used her magic reconstructing skills and redid this red vintage dress I'm wearing! I absolutely love it and get so many compliments on it every time I wear it. I mean you really can't go wrong with the color red and polka dots.

Ps this car just happened to be parked outside the building so naturally I had a photo sesh by it. Thanks for snapping photos of me Sarah!!

I want, I NEED summer.

So clearly I took these the other day when it was GORGEOUS outside. Little did I know three days later it was going to be FREEZING AND SNOWING. EFF you Iowa. This better be the last snow till like December. 

Anyway, here I'm wearing what is sure to be one of my favorite summer dresses. I am in love with cut out dresses this year. But for real, stores need to figure out bras for these types of dresses. Am I right ladies? Yes. I am. I think for now I'll wear a normal bra with a cute lace bandeau.  I scored this little dress from Von Maur in their juniors section for like ten bucks! And the studded cross body is also from Von Maur. Seven dollars. Poppin' tags y'all. 

By the way. This is one of my favorite places in Des Moines. I love nature and riding bikes and enjoying the outdoors. There are tons of bike paths right by my apartment so that makes me happy. And look at that goose! Why is that goose all by itself? These are the things I think about.

Anyway, I wish I could sleep till Monday. Because tomorrow and this weekend is going to be the grossest weather May has ever seen. Probably.

Midcoast design - She knows me so well :)

So I have a very special post dedicated to my lovely and talented friend Angelica of Midcoast Design. I excitedly facebook messaged her one day expressing how badly I needed a custom made dress from her. I kind of told her what I envisioned and POOF in a matter of hours she had a sketch drawn up. She had purchased this gorgeous vintage floral fabric awhile ago and she so kindly used it on my dress. And the lace detail! It's magical. I love it so much and could not be happier with it. There's just something so special about wearing a hand made dress that you know was custom made for you! Love you girl!

Second stop: Horseshoe Bay Resort

I can't get over how amazing this vacation was. Work paid for me and my good friend to spend the weekend at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Texas. I had never been to Texas before and I was excited for the new experience. We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was around 80 degrees and sunny the whole weekend. Friday we spent the majority of the day by the pool sun bathing. I hadn't felt the heat of the sun on my skin for awhile so it was nice. I even got a bit of a tan! Friday night we had dinner and drinks by the lake and chatted with friends. Saturday me and my friend had a spa day! We got mani's and pedi's while drinking a couple glasses of wine. Saturday night we were treated to a five course meal that was so delicious and then there was a DJ and dance later. It was so hilarious and fun. And lastly they surprised everyone with Ipad Minis and a $50 visa gift card! It was such an Oprah moment. I am so grateful that I work for such an amazing company and all the memories we created this weekend.

First stop: Austin, Texas

So over the weekend I had the amazing opportunity to go on vacation in Texas! I qualified for a trip through my work and got to take a guest! I took one of my best friends, Natalie Ivory from high school and we had so much fun. Also she so graciously helped me take outfit photos on vacation :):)  On Thursday we spent the day wandering around Austin, Texas, a place we've never been. First we walked to 6th street and got some food and drinks on a patio. The weather was perfect. Quite the change from cold and rainy Iowa. We then walked to Waterloo records to peruse. I've read about it online and I love music so I had to take a look. I didn't buy anything but it was such a cool place! Then we walked to Amy's Ice cream, took some photo booth photos, and even hula hooped. It was a blast. I miss it already.
